MIKAGE PROJECT

"We will compose and arrange folk songs from various regions of Japan with a modern sensibility, and connect them to the next generation.

With one thought in mind, three talented musicians who have been active while pursuing the possibilities of Japanese instruments have come together.

MIKAGE (Mikage) means the spirit or soul of the gods and Buddha.

Through folk music not only from Japan but from around the world, we feel the sound spirits left behind by our predecessors and preserve them for future generations.

We will take a fresh look at the numerous folk songs.

Time may pass, but the reason of the people remains the same.

Knowing the old and knowing the new, "Oto-tekyo-chishin" (new knowledge of the old and the new).

The one and only new folk music journey begins here and now."
